Designing Trucks with Safety in Mind

Truck driving is one of the jobs with the highest slip, trip, and fall rates.  As a result, it is an industry with a high cost of workers’ compensation. To ensure the highest safety for its drivers, one of the many safety precautions for getting in and out of the cab is the three point contact rule. Having contact with three points – two hands and your feet is the safest way to get on and off a truck. When it comes to safe footing, adding the additional traction onto the stepping surface of the cab, many truck companies have turned to Handi-Treads because its surface is superior to other surfaces.

Handi-Treads Surface

The Handi-Treads surface has been tested by CFS (Consolidated Floor Safety), an independent lab based in Henderson, Kentucky.  The results of their tests indicated that our surface in dry conditions averaged a COF of .83 and in wet conditions our surface averaged a COF of .96.  These tests conclude that our Handi-Treads are a perfect cost-saving solution to assisting truckers getting in an out of their cabs.
