I awoke before sunrise Monday morning, a.k.a. Super Monday, to find three inches of snow had fallen overnight and encased my vehicle. Luckily, I did not slip and fall walking out the front door, or along my driveway. I have installed HandiTreads on my front steps on top of a threshold ramp. The snowfall this morning reminded me of a customer I spoke with at great lengths last week about our non slip treads, which are designed to prevent slip and falls.
The customer contacted us after watching our 3D video posted on eBay showing how the treads work. His father, who lives in Tennessee, has one concrete step on the landing and seven additional wooden steps leading to the door. I explained to him the size differences in our non slip treads and how our various models benefit different scenarios, front steps compared to a walkway and other walking and stepping configurations.
His initial thoughts consisted of using eight plain aluminum non-slip nosings and both our wood and concrete anchors for installation. However, after learning of the other tread models, he decided to call his father that night and tell him about the models he had just learned of. In particular, he explained the difference between a nosing and a tread.
The next day, he called me back and decided to go with two of our 30” treads per stair, and a one strip for the landing. He also purchased both the stainless steel screws and concrete anchors that we provide for a quick, easy install.
This past weekend I received an e-mail from him thanking us for the treads and the quick shipping. His father said they should have installed those years ago. Who knew that such a small change could make such a big difference?
