Kenosha, WI – In this brave new world, restaurant dining has effectively become outdoor dining, and leave it to American entrepreneurship and ingenuity to find a way to meet the needs of a public that wants to enjoy as much normal as is possible. With this also comes adhering to Americans with Disabilities (ADA) regulations, bringing new challenges of not only comfortably meeting customer needs but even overcoming restraints in the ability to move carts safely up and down curbs to ensure the business keeps moving forward.

With sidewalks rapidly turning into outdoor dining spaces, many restaurant owners and local authorities are creating safe, accessible dining areas on sidewalks and side streets.  In addition to feeding and entertaining guests, they are also fast becoming ADA experts.

Across the country, local authorities and restaurant owners and have found solutions in two variations of the Built-Up-Curb Ramp developed by accessibility experts; Handi-Ramp®. Today, many city managers have used the built-up curb ramps to create temporary access for outdoor restaurant locations for their specific needs with a lower cost and expense of creating curb cuts in the curb in the middle of the street. The Built-Up Curb Ramp can be secured easily by merely using concrete anchor bolts. This cost-effective and minimalistic curb ramp is portable by design so that it can be set in place at a location for temporary use by a restaurant or permanent use. This design does not create a permanent cut in the curb if the situation changes, and a restaurant is no longer in need of outside seating anymore.

Handi-Ramp® is a solutions company that will work with you to identify the best wheelchair accessibility, material handling, or home safety product that fits your specific need. Handi-Ramp® products are available across North and Central America, including Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Puerto Rico.
