In part 1 of our oil field services blog, we introduced how a product is born and the steps needed to be taken before it becomes a reality. In part 2, we will discuss the drastic need for such large capacity ramps as it pertains to not only the oil field industry, but construction sites and other areas requiring larger vehicles.
If you were to drive by a construction site, there would be workers, building materials, and large trucks to carry much of those same building materials. You might also see a trailer parked off to the side housing the management staff and important documents. What you may (or may not) see are the large hoses coming in and out of the site carrying power lines.
You may not know it, but this poses a huge risk to the site. Mainly, if larger vehicles must constantly come and go carrying building materials they run a chance of rolling over one or multiple lines, causing backups. Management could bury the lines, but may become too costly and time consuming.
To combat this problem, companies are turning to a new solution: ramps. Handi-Ramp, based in Chicago, has engineered and developed a series of crossover ramps for the growing industry, especially hydraulic fracturing. At present these ramps are being widely utilized by a number of major oilfield services companies.
These ramps that Handi-Ramp has developed allow for the safe, efficient crossover of pipes and hoses at a construction or fracking site. They have a capacity of up to 160,000 lbs, and come in an infinite variety of sizes. Handi-Ramp has also developed a separate ramp system that allows for the safe transit of heavy equipment and truck over containment field berms critical to environment safety during the fracking process.
This new ramp system could pioneer how construction and fracking companies further utilize their hoses and cables anywhere needed without the worry constantly moving them around.
