Custom Ramp Platform offers Middle School Additional Safety

When middle school students return to their classroom this Tuesday following Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s Day, something will be a bit different.

When exiting the school there was a step down as you walked out the door.  This is not a typical exit situation where an exit landing is usually level with the surface inside the building.   As a result, if people are not paying careful attention, a step out the door combined with a full step down could lead to accidents and injuries.  Now, when people leave the school they will step out onto a custom threshold platform.

Well, school administrators had had enough.

The Director of Building Maintenance at the school gave Handi-Ramp (a local company based near the school) a call to figure out a solution.  The result was a custom platform manufactured with the unique non slip raised button surface designed to be more of a ‘safety warning’ than a threshold.

As aforementioned, the ramp features Handi-Ramp’s unique raised button’s (the very same surface used for non slip treads), and was mounted with pins onto a concrete surface ensuring the ramp will not move when stepped on by hundreds of students and staff members.

The ramp is highly visible regardless if you’re walking to or from the school’s main entrance with the intention of reducing unintentional injuries.
