5 Safety Products Associated with Forklifts

Posted on April 29, 2013January 11, 2019 by Guest Post

Many companies rely on forklift operators to complete everyday tasks for them. Companies put their operators through substantial training to ensure each and every task is completed correctly.

Forklift operator training is important, but there are also forklift safety accessories a company can use to keep their operators and forklifts as safe as possible. Companies quickly discover the value of giving their operators the right training and providing them with the right forklift safety accessories. Here are five safety products associated with forklifts:

#1. Forklift Safety and Training Video And DVD Kits

Forklift operators have a lot riding on their shoulders as far as safety is concerned. Companies should be doing everything in their power to make sure the operators are taking safety seriously. That is where forklift safety and training video DVD kits come in. The Safe Lift Forklift Video Training Kit includes a nearly hour long training DVD, written test, operator’s manual, instructor’s guide and certification documents.

#2. Battery Safety Products

Forklifts require a lot of care and that’s where battery safety products come in handy. Since many indoor forklifts are electric, it’s important to ensure their batteries are in tip-top shape and watered on a regular basis. Also, since batteries contain acid, your company will want to have the proper eye wash station, personal protective equipment, watering devices and battery spill kit.

#3. Seatbelts

Since tip-overs are the number one cause of death from forklifts, seatbelt use is critical.  OSHA enforces forklift seatbelt use through the General Duty Clause and other standards.  That’s where the forklift SAFE-Belt comes in.  It’s easy to install, comfortable, cost effective and built to ensure seatbelt compliance. The forklift SAFE-Belt comes in both standard and ignition switch models for improved forklift seatbelt compliance.

#4. Equipment Log

Part of forklift safety is ensuring every forklift is inspected before the start of each shift. That’s where the Lift Truck Equipment Log comes in. The  Lift Truck Equipment Log installs on the side of the forklift in only a few minutes, it’s easy to use and because it is bright yellow yoers in one easy format.

#5. Checklist Caddy

Part of forklift safety is ensuring every forklift is inspected before the start of each shift. That’s where the Forklift Checklist Caddy comes in handy.  The Forklift Checklist Caddy installs on the side of the forklift in only a few minutes, it’s easy to use and because it is bright yellow you can’t miss it.  The Forklift Checklist Caddy consists 75 sets of carbonless copies, making forklift recordkeeping and defect reporting very easy.

Conclusion

These are just five of the many forklift safety accessories associated with forklifts. It’s important for each company that uses forklifts to consider which forklift safety accessories might help them in their particular application.

When a company takes the time to make sure their forklift operators are well trained and that the forklifts are well inspected and equipped it makes their facility a safer place to work. Whether it’s a forklift seatbelt, forklift inspection form, or even a forklift safety training video, all can be valuable resources to companies and their forklift operators.
