How much do you know about the U.S. Pulp and Paper industry?
My guess is very little.
Did you know between 1990 and 2002, the U.S consume rate jumped from 84 million tons to over 97 million tons?
Early last week we received a call from a top manufacturer of the paper industry looking to build (3) 10 x 10 steel platforms to be connected together forming a solid 10x 30 platform with a max loading capacity of 16,000lbs. This platform will be utilized at their paper mill in Florida helping to make loading and unloading easier, keeping their workers safe.
Essentially, workers will use a pallet jack to move large containers from their dock out into the field to be filled. When done, workers will move the containers back to the dock area and place it adjacent to the 30’ platform. A crane will lift the containers off the ground and place them on the platform. Workers can then use another pallet jack to roll the container into their warehouse, and repeat the process.
Per company regulations, the platform cannot stay in its spot 24/7, requiring workers to quickly and easy remove the 10×10 steel sections and place them elsewhere until a later time. The three sections will be secured using two horseshoe-shaped pins.
*Note: at the time of this article the ramp was en route to the customer. Further updates to come.
